To answer the questions lurking on the forums: yes, Tripwire will be attending a number of shows over the next couple of months, showing new material. The schedule looks like this:

16-22 August, Cologne - GDC Europe/Gamescom: some of the team will be flying over for this one. We’ll be showing Heroes on the 1C stand, as well as chatting about Rising Storm. There will also be material on The Ball – and another venture or two that we haven’t announced yet! The 1C booth is in Hall 4.2 - booth #18, Aisle B.

3-5 September, Seattle – PAX West: some more of us will be over on the west coast for PAX. This time we will have our own booth (#3646) where we will be showing Heroes as well as letting people get hands on with The Ball – and possibly some other games, too. No doubt there will be a few giveaways for good measure! Sam Hulick will also be at the show with us.

30 September–3 October, Atlanta – SIEGE: this is our home show, which we co-sponsor. The whole studio will most likely be there during the show. We’ll be doing some speaking and panels – and providing a free lunch!

4-7 November, Moscow – Igromir: plans not yet finalized, but we are hoping to pop over for Igromir in Moscow to round off 2010!

So, if you are in the relevant area for any of those shows, come and see us!

10th June 2010, Roswell, GA: Tripwire Interactive is proud to announce that composer Sam Hulick has signed on to create the soundtrack for Heroes of Stalingrad, the sequel to Tripwire Interactive’s Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45. Sam is best known to gamers for his work on the award-winning Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 soundtracks. Sam will now be bringing his world-class talent for evocative and haunting music to setting the mood for one of the most brutal battles in all of human history – the battle for Stalingrad.

“For Heroes of Stalingrad our goal was to create a soundtrack that was fresh and different than the standard bombastic music usually heard in this genre,” said John Gibson, President of Tripwire Interactive. “Not only did Sam do this, but we were also blown away at how well he was able to nail the feeling of desperation and defiance that the soldiers in this battle would have felt.”

Heroes of Stalingrad will feature a unique dynamic music system that will adapt the emotional mood of the soundtrack to match the morale of the player based on the flow of the battle. To highlight the differences between the two warring powers the game will feature a completely unique soundtrack for the Russian and German sides.

An early version of the main theme music is now available in a video set to a montage of the latest screenshots from the game here:

Tripwire Interactive are pleased to announce the development of the Rising Storm expansion for Red Orchestra: Heroes of Stalingrad. Rising Storm will cover the famous island-hopping campaigns in the Pacific from 1942 to 1945 as the US Army and Marine Corps fight it out with the Imperial Japanese Army and Special Naval Landing Forces. Featuring some of the most brutal fighting in the Pacific theater, players will be able to experience beach assaults, jungle fighting, close quarters cave fighting and more across Corregidor, Guadalcanal, Iwo Jima and many other historic locations. The player will be able to take the part of either side – American or Japanese – playing through the Campaign Mode alone or with friends, or battle it out online in full player versus player multi-player.

Rising Storm will be created in a first-of-its-kind collaboration between a mod team and a professional game development studio. The Rising Storm team will be made up of the best developers from the Red Orchestra modding community and the mod community at large. This “All-Star” mod team will be will be sponsored by Tripwire Interactive, with the potential to earn real money for their work. “We’re very excited about this new concept in game development,” said John Gibson, President of Tripwire Interactive. “We’ve always been impressed with the quality of work coming out of the mod teams for our games. We decided that we wanted to try this experiment where we would work closely with a mod team, give them early access to the development tools, and give them an opportunity to make some real money from their work. As the lines between developers and modders blur, we feel this type of synergy could be a great thing for the games industry.”

The Rising Storm team is recruiting now for more developers, preferably with suitable skills in UE3. For more information on the opportunity for developers, visit the website at: http://www.risingstormgame.com. You can be part of the team that brings Red Orchestra’s tactical FPS gameplay to the Pacific – AND earn some money while doing it.

The Royal Armoured Corps Tank Museum in Bovington, Dorset has been the single most important source of reference for the Tripwire team over the years we have been creating tank models for our games. Following on from the dramatic rebuild of the museum over the last 2-3 years, the Tank Museum are also working on bringing a virtual museum online, via their website (http://www.tankmuseum.org). This will eventually feature all of the vehicles now on show in the new hall and will allow visitors to the website (and the museum) to view the vehicles from every angle, including some of the interiors.

To do this, of course, they need the models. We can provide them with a good start from the models from Ostfront. We are looking to the RO mod teams, the community and to modelers in general to fill the gaps. The original Ostfront models are obviously a great start, but they will be looking to use much higher poly counts as they develop the virtual museum - these don’t have to be drivable in a game!

So, if anyone has suitable models they are willing to donate to the museum, it would be greatly appreciated. If some of them don’t exist, we hope that some of you would like to create them! The Tank Museum will provide all the reference material you might need, from the actual vehicles themselves, as well as from plans in the museum’s archives. In return for donating models, the museum can obviously credit the relevant modelers and is offering free entrance to the museum for you as a little thank you. The museum is a registered charity in the UK, which may even allow some of you to claim any donations as deductions off your local tax authorities, which never hurts!

If everyone interested would like to register that interest and discuss, please head for our forums (CLICK HERE) and we can get organized! The full list of required vehicle models (CLICK HERE), formats and everything else will be made available as we go, including updates as to which ones are done and which are still needed.

Voodoo Extreme have just posted a new article on Heroes of Stalingrad, over on the Voodoo Extreme website. We sat down with Peter Eykemans at GDC 2010 last week and discussed a whole bunch of Heroes stuff with him. In the article, he is able to spill some new beans for you all to read about! On top of that, a nice bunch of high resolution screenshots, revealing one of the new levels. Head over there and take a look.
